Skills recap

Shot reverse shot: This is used in order to show what they are looking at and there reaction without this we would become bored and the film would fall flat.

Position of Tripod: The tripod changes levels to create suspense and fear. For example when she is going up the stairs the tripod is almost ground level to create fear and it is not natural. Also without the changes we would become bored and not scared.

Shot length: When different shot  lengths are used, it creates the feeling of anticipation and fear. By varying them this also makes us more engaged. For example, when the character is looking around in fear, this is because we know that something is going to happen so the shot length is held for 7 seconds to cause suspense. Where as when the  character is being possessed the shot only lasts for a second, which then makes us feel very scared as we don't know exactly what's happening and don't have a clear understanding on the situation.

Shot Angle: Through out this clip we see a range of different shot angles being used. We see low angles being used when she is walking up the stairs, which gives the impression that she is heading towards trouble, with something being at the end of the walk. A high angle is used to show the girls vulnerability, we will use a canted angle as this is distorted and strange, like a typical horror movie.

Lighting: The lighting is dim throughout, shadowing is used to create and atmosphere, as we can not see what is being shadowed.  Also buy having no direct lighting being shown in the shot, this creates a feeling of fear. The shot stars off with just the lighting being shown, which automatically creates a feeling of suspense and fear for when the character enters.

Colour: The main colouring of this film is black and grey's. As it is daunting and again adds to the dark and mysterious atmosphere. However the character is wearing white as this shows her innocence and vulnerability.
