This title sequence uses many themes to create the amazing title sequence in what we assume the program is about vampires as the red lips looks like blood but it is really cherry juice.
Symbolism is used heavily in this title sequence, in the beginning of the sequence it shows a run down,desolate, dirty suburb but suddenly changes to a busy city with the deaths of rodents, church and religion, women in provocative clothing and men lusting after them. We noticed a clear overwhelming element of death is clearly highlighted. the use of snakes with the venom being spat out and once again roadkill and finally flecks of blood over the screen.
We begin to understand religion and sexuality must be a key element to this TV drama with the use of church's and women dancing seductively with men. We find this slightly ironic as these communities completely contrast each others views and beliefs.
Overall we felt this title sequence applies to the vampire genre very well as all the elements consist of traditional vampire views.
