Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

To make sure we used the correct features, which are sutible for the target audience age we're trying to attract.

The audience we are tying to attract to our horror film is both genders, as we feel that the footage is sutible for both males and females. But we decided that we are going to narrow down our target audience age to 15-18 years of age, simply because we feel that this is the age group that visits the cinema to watch the genre of horror/ghost the most and would enjoy our film the most. We feel that anyone older then 20/21 wouldnt be as attracted to our film or the genre, simply because people of that age arent generally as interested. Studys provide evidence that teenagers are mainly attracted to fear and the feeling of suspense, which our film provides! However they are also attracted to blood and gore, which sadly our film does not contain but we feel that the element of a ghost would attract just as many viewers just like other horror films like What Lies Beneath and Paranormal Activity which both have similar story lines to ours.

After watching a convential generic horror film, Drag Me To Hell this clip represents how the older generation (the old women) is seen as the villain. With the young girl giving off the impression that she is scared and vulnerable, this suggests that in this case, the younger generation is the victim where as the old lady is the threat. In my opinion i feel in some ways both characters fit the stereotypes of there generation. The young girl is seen as a hard working person, who has pretty much a perfect life style. When the old women starts interrogating her at first she plays it cool, but after time she starts to get a bit aggravated which is when her fear starts to come through. Similarly the old lady fits the stereotype of being a bit crazy and mad. However  i don't think I could really comment on this as stereotypically not every old lady is possessed!! I also think that the gender is important, by making both the victim and the threat female, this shows that she typical stereotype is proven yet also broken. The young girl fits the stereotype as most people assume that young females are typically vulnerable and scared of pretty much everything. Where as the older lady breaks that as she is shown as being evil.
